NexLAN Update:
The remodel is taking a bit longer than projected. Once the construction is complete I will mark a solid date for the LAN, as of now its very possible the first 2012 event will be in late Q3
However here are some pictures of its progress:

Removal of old carpet

Removal of a few walls, opening up the place

Dedicated 5A (600w) & 1Gb/s Ethernet to the backbone per Person
10A (1200w) per person is possible

Mud and texture

Painted walls, building counter top structure

this area should seat 5 very comfortably! much more work to do!
* More Details to follow

ASUS NVIDA GTX 580 Overclocked Folding@Home |
Apr 18, 2011 - 11:06 AM - by V2-V3

Hello,
Its been a while since I last folded but today I decided to put together a folding rig and see how how far I can push the system clocks for maximum Points Per Day.
Currently all the hardware is running on their original stock coolers with no hardware modifications, as My primary goal is system reliability uptime. I will also be looking at system power consumption and hardware performance/cost ratio.
The theme for this test is an enthusiast gamer with a high performance PC who loves to play the latest and greatest titles but wants to do some good with his beloved hardware.
Later I will examine what it takes to be an Extreme Folder, I will test Chilled liquid, Vapor Phase Change Refrigeration, even Liquid Nitrogen Cooling with the goal of building the most powerful single CPU folding system.
System Specs

System Hardware:
ASUS GTX 580 Graphics Card $499.00
ASUS Rampage III Gene Motherboard $229.00
Intel Core i7-980X Extreme edition 3.33GHZ Processor $899.00
Corsair Dominator GTX3 3x2GB 2000MHZ C7 Triple Channel Memory $183.00
Western Digital Velociraptor 300GB Hard Drive $100.00
Antec 1200W TPQ Power Supply $200.00
Microsoft Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit Service Pack 1 $100.00
Base System Cost: $2210.00
(22c Ambient Air Temperature)
GPU: Core Clock: 772MHz, Memory Clock 4000MHz, Shader Core Clock 1544MHz. 1.05V Temperature 37c
CPU: Core Clock: 3.33GHz, uCLK Uncore 2670MHz, BCLK 133MHz. 1.2V Temperature 25c
System Memory: 1333MHz CL9-9-9-24 74 1T. 1.65V Temperature 23c
Power Consumption from the wall with no corrections for Power supply efficiency: 160 Watts
Points Per Day for a Stock ASUS GTX 580

~16500 PPD Points Per Day
ASUS GTX 580 With Full Work load, Folding at Home: (22c Ambient Air Temperature)
GPU: 99% Load, Core Voltage 1.05V, Temperature 78c
CPU: ~2% Load, Core Voltage 1.20V , Temperature 25c
System Memory: 33% Memory Usage, DRAM Voltage 1.65V, Temperature 23c
Power Consumption from the wall with no corrections for Power supply efficiency: 320 Watts
I must note the CPU remained in a low clock state (1600MHz) due to the lack of CPU recourses required b y the GPU Intel speed step down clocked the CPU to conserve power
The client I prefer is the Folding at Home Tracker V2 with GPU3 Client AVAILABLE HERE WITH INSTALL GUIDE
Over Clocking Time!

~18000 PPD Points Per Day
ASUS GTX 580 With Full Work load, Folding at Home: (22c Ambient Air Temperature)
GPU: 99% Load, Core Voltage 1.05V, Temperature 80c, Core Clock: 825MHz, Memory Clock 4400MHz, Shader Core Clock 1650MHz.
CPU: ~2% Load, Core Voltage 1.20V , Temperature 25c, Core Clock: 3.33GHz, uCLK Uncore 2670MHz, BCLK 133MHz.
System Memory: 33% Memory Usage, DRAM Voltage 1.65V, Temperature 23c, 1333MHz CL9-9-9-24 74 1T.
Power Consumption from the wall with no corrections for Power supply efficiency: 330 Watts
The CPU remained in a low clock state (1600MHz) but occasionally throttled to about ~3.33GHz, this indicates the GTX 580 may benefit from an Over Clocked CPU
GPU Clocking Continued

ASUS GTX 580 With Full Work load, Folding at Home: (22.5c Ambient Air Temperature)
GPU: 99% Load, Core Voltage 1.05V, Temperature 63c, Core Clock: 850MHz, Memory Clock 4008MHz, Shader Core Clock 1700MHz.
CPU: ~2% Load, Core Voltage 1.20V , Temperature 25c, Core Clock: 3.33GHz, uCLK Uncore 2670MHz, BCLK 133MHz.
