video making issues...

for those of you who make movies i have a bit of an issue i think you can address. i have some video files i want to use for machinima that was recorded through FRAPS (without sound to boost performance if that's an issue) and though the video plays well in reviewing, i can't do jack with it using windows movie maker. every time i try to make it and attempt to publish to my computer as a wmv file (high quality 720x480 with variable bit rate) it doesn't get much past 22 percent which is just after the text. and the same also happens with my recorded material i shot with my digital camera. if it's needed, the files i am working with are in AVI format and are typically standard 640x480 resolution, i'm using the vista version of movie maker as well just in case it's a bug they haven't fixed yet.

anyways, any input from you guys would be greatly appreciated!

heh, well i would upgrade from WMM but i'm still being a cheapskate for a while longer 'till i can buy one certain thing that'll definitely clean my bank account out, lol (new truck) but as for encoding, i tried supereasy video converter but it quit working on me. i'll try the other software frankbooth mentioned though, thanks!
