Re: What's the coldest liquid temperatureanyone has ever run though a Koolance CPU-33
Has anyone done "destructive tests" of the CPU-330 by doing something like running LN2 through it? What about the Swiftech MCP-655 pump?
The linseed oil, as with any other oil I've mentioned, is meant to be used in conjunction with Ethanol. I think it would be good to look at Wikipedia's page on azeotropes, found here: Azeotrope - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia This truly is essential in understanding how refrigerants are mixed, and why they are. Basically, it is an extension of this principle. Any solution will have a lower melting point than it's solvents.
Ethanol is always my primary component. Everything else is mentioned as additives, to provide additional benefits not acquired from Ethanol alone. The most sought after now, is the increase in specific density, to allow for an even greater removal of heat. The viscosity of the solution can be adjusted by the concentration of the additives. The greatest concern for viscosity, is the ability of the pump to handle it. Beyond that, everything is open to examination.

Just got my parts. These things really are a sight to behold! Now, I just have to get my radiator(s) and tubing.

I didn't even think about how the pump will respond to all of this. The mcp 655 may not like the low temps.

Re: What's the coldest liquid temperatureanyone has ever run though a Koolance CPU-33
I am having to put everything on hold. It seems apparent that my motherboard was partially dead for awhile, and I didn't know it. It won't register anything beyond the first bank of memory on the first cpu. So things will just have to sit until I am able to replace this board. This is a real PITA!!!

You may also get better results if the cpu330 was made out of uns c11030. Im actually not sure what koolance uses in ther blocks but i think it's c110.

Are you or anyone else concerned that the CPU-330 may become brittle at very low temps? It's not really an immediate concern. Since, 1. I have to wait to build this thing, 2. I doubt I will get the lowest temps on my first try.

Re: What's the coldest liquid temperatureanyone has ever run though a Koolance CPU-33
Well I'm here to report that I'm finally getting my new board. It should arrive sometime Wednesday. The board is the quad-socket (as in four cpus on one board ;-D) Tyan s4980. It was almost a nightmare trying to get this thing. But I finally found a company which, though they didn't have it in stock, immediately ordered it from Tyan. That was this past Friday.
The only thing I'm concerned about, is whether the cpu-330's will fit on the board. It's probably not an issue though, since the board appears to have the correct surrounding space alloted for cooling devices. I tried to post a picture of it, but it claimed the filesize was too large (jpeg@293Kb?). Anyway, anyone interested can easily find it on the Tyan website.

Re: What's the coldest liquid temperatureanyone has ever run though a Koolance CPU-33
I hope you guys are still reading this thread. Because I really need some advice here before I get this board. I need someone to look at the s4980 board on Tyan's site ( ::Tyan Computer Corporation:: System Boards detail). This board barely has any empty space on it. What I mean by that, is that other than the four processor sockets and the 16 DIMM slots, there isn't much else on the board. And I was thinking to simply dope the board with a small (non-shedding) brush (or one of those polyester makeup sponge-brushes. The kind that looks like a fancy Q-tip), rather than spray it. The reason is simple. There's very little here to cover that needs to be. And spraying seems to increase the likelihood of "collateral damage". In fact, I could even use an eyedropper, for as little as needs to be covered here. But I'd like a second opinion on this.
Thanks,
Shingoshi
Uh, why am I getting this message when posting pictures?
Request Entity Too Large
The requested resource

The file is only 293KBs. Is it the fact that's it's 1600x1200? I thought this site would simply reduce it as needed.

I would host pix on imageshack and post thumbnail links.
If the Koolance blocks are not an option we can get Danger Den to custom make blocks for your build.

I was finally able to fit the Koolance cooling blocks. My fault for the earlier message I have now deleted. The screws were just mighty damn tight, and I felt uncomfortable forcing them. I have, and they fit.
