Re: markklebs new short Tower Mod...
Here is a shot of the mobo tray before the CF/Aramid
Here is a shot of the Rad mounted

I was gonna use the cobbled up DVD cage but now I think I will make a new one from Perforated alum
PS: do you like the Yellow/black better or the reg CarbonFiber?

Re: markklebs new short Tower Mod...
me too, the reason for using the yellow/black (Carbonfiber/ Aramid) was the aramid allows the material to cover complex bends where the pure CF can bend in 1 direction only (harder to use on panels with curves)
That said I usually build my comps very plain and after they are done I go WHY? Everyone else uses color like crazy and kicks my butt.
My picts are at best Poor. In person this looks a LOT better plus it matches the Asus boards yellow and black theme. Il throw in a bunch of black, blues and greens and the yellow will be a lot less noticeable.
PS: why are so many people on [H] fucken retards?

Re: markklebs new short Tower Mod...
LOL, sorry no. I just dont think the advanced aerospace field is looking to build purple rockets.
I have been trying to figure where everything goes, what a pain.
Here is a before shot of the rear fan mount
Here is a after shot of the rear fan mounted (still needs to be modded but you get the idea)

Usually in mods the exhaust fans are just thrown on with little though to their looks /function. I think this helps with both.

Re: markklebs new short Tower Mod...
LOL, im a purist. The reason for using the CF is the added strength. Usually I cut so many holes in the panels for cooling and wiring what I am left with is a very flimsey hunk o junk. The CF when bonded to both sides makes it at least 10 times stronger but adds very little weight.
NOW, about your links that is vinyl upholstery molded to look like CF. Its a cool ass idea (probably a lot cheaper too)
We just have to figure how to mount it, directly to the case or on removeable panels.
PS: thanks for those cool links.

That means a lot coming from you, thanks. I have been building cars for well over 30 years, it was my first love. (dont tell my first girlfriend Candice)
In cars I learned to repair, replace, paint, electrical and improve existing designs. To me comps are the same just smaller/easier.

Re: markklebs new short Tower Mod...
I was looking at the DVD/PS rack thinking how ugly it was
I have a couple of small Perforated alum pieces left so I thought I would make a new one. This one has a cover for the back end of the DVD (visible wiring? Hells NO!)
OK now on to the PS, lol..Check out this monster

They (power & Cooling)was so pissed when they saw my red comp. I dont even want to know what they say if they see this.
Everyone keeps talking about 1000watt-2000watt PSs I thought I would go in the other direction. 235watts is plenty for a Intel/SLI comp running Raid0 and Water Cooling right?????
